Santa Clara County and the local nonprofit Public Rights Project filed an amicus curiae brief on Friday opposing recent changes to the U.S. Postal Service and subsequent delays in mail delivery.
“The attacks on the U.S. Postal Service are not just attacks on whether or not we have companies that want to privatize it … it’s much bigger than that,” county Board of Supervisors President Cindy Chavez said at a news conference Tuesday. “Our democracy literally rests on the health and vitality of the post office.”
