This weekend, 2020 Census caravans will drive through five Bay Area locations to allow residents to respond to the 2020 Census.
The caravans will be going through Healdsburg, San Jose, Santa Rosa, Livermore, and East Palo Alto.
The goal of the caravanning is to urge residents in hard-to-count communities to complete the census, according to the Census Bureau. The caravans will be following safety guidelines by social distancing at all times.
According to the Census Bureau, the message behind the caravanning is to remind families that they can still get counted, and that every citizen, no matter their identity, counts.
Additionally, it allows local city officials to ensure that their cities and counties receive an accurate count.
The Healdsburg event is running from 4-6 p.m. Friday, meeting in the parking lot of the Healdsburg Community Center at 1557 Healdsburg Ave. The San Jose event is from 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday, meeting at Santee Elementary School at 1313 Audubon Drive.
The Santa Rosa event is from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, meeting at the Roseland Village Neighborhood Center at 779 Sebastopol Road, while the Livermore event is from 10 a.m. to noon, meeting at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church at 678 Enos Way.
In East Palo Alto, the caravan is from 3-4 p.m. on both Fridays and Saturdays, meeting at 1761 East Bayshore Road.
People can go to my2020census.gov to self-respond.
