The city of Stockton on Wednesday will host the first of two open house meetings for the community to discuss planned safety improvements on two streets.

The meetings will center around making Main and Market streets a complete street, meaning they will be accessible to all means of travel, city officials said.

The city said they are in the process of completing a plan to reduce vehicle travel lanes, add bicycle lanes, repair sidewalks, and upgrade traffic signals and streetlights.

The first part of the project will be on Main and Market streets from downtown Stockton to Wilson Way.

The April 3 open house will take place at the Robert J. Cabral train station located at 949 E. Channel St.

A second meeting is scheduled for May 23 at the Fair Oaks branch library at 2370 E. Main St.

Both meetings will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and cover the same information. More information about the project can be found on the city’s website.
