Katherine Ann Rowlands

Katherine Ann Rowlands has worked as a journalist for 30 years, covering news in the Bay Area, Central California and overseas. As a 2017 JSK Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, she focused her research on how to overcome gender disparities in newsrooms, especially in leadership positions, and how to bolster local news coverage in the Bay Area. Craig Lazzeretti

Craig Lazzeretti is a lifelong resident of the Bay Area, where he has also spent his journalism career. He was a longtime daily newspaper editor with Bay Area News Group and was part of the organization’s Pulitzer Prize-winning team for its coverage of the 2016 Ghost Ship warehouse fire.

Kathleen Kirkwood

Kathleen Kirkwood is a journalist with three decades of reporting and editing experience in the Bay Area. She covered the community and city hall for the Oakland Tribune as a reporter before becoming city editor at the Trib. She was breaking news editor on the 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning Ghost Ship fire story for the Bay Area News Group. She serves as BCN weekend editor and also writes about environment and science issues.

Kiley Russell

Kiley Russell is a Bay Area native and has lived most of his life in Oakland. He studied journalism at San Francisco State University, worked for the Associated Press and the former Contra Costa Times, among other outlets. Kasey Carlson

Randy Myers

Randy Myers hails from a small Northern California town and has been ensconced in the Bay Area for nearly three decades. He’s eager to turn 30 this coming year. Yeah, right. Jeff Shuttleworth

Jeff Shuttleworth, who’s based at the county building in Oakland, covers courts, police, local government and other news in Alameda County. He’s worked for Bay City News Service most of the time since 1982, with brief detours in business news, corporate communications and other work. He’s worked in Oakland most of that time so he knows the area and its key players well.
