Resident group sends cease-and-desist to Berkeley council over Brown Act violations

A lawyer representing community group Berkeley People’s Alliance has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the City of Berkeley accusing the city council of violating the Ralph M. Brown Act at two Nov. 2023 meetings. Resident and Berkeley People’s Alliance Board Member Nathan Mizell was also listed as a party to the cease-and-desist.

The group alleges that the Brown Act violations occurred at city council meetings on November 21 and 28, 2023 after the meetings were interrupted by protesters.
